AoL #05 - Relentless Wings

"Anomalous Radiation Monstrosity. That's 'ARM' for you." So, they've finally coined the term. Cool name, but who cares. It's basically just a freaking alien bastard, wrecking our backyard, no matter what you call them with.

"-hours ago, codename 'Skyflares'...", Captain Alan continued on, "almost twice as big as the Crimson." Wow, GREAT! First, they're immune to nuke bombs. Now, it gets bigger... and flies! Someone please tell me I'm not dreaming. "The good news is," the words seemed efficient to tame the growing murmur around, "...it's slow. Way slower than a fully stuffed cargo lifter. We'll gonna take advantage of that." Seems to me like they're still learning how to fly, huh.

"Flight missions are now being sent to your datacom. All squadrons are to follow their respective orders." We all checked the little datacom strapped on our wrist at once. They really need to replace the strap material, it gets itchy sometimes, but... meh, this isn't your limited edition golden watch anyway. "Target is known to emit deadly radiation and generate constant EM pulse. The first one kills you while the later will fry your plane, so you'd better stay away outside of 100 metres radius from that thing. Pass that point and you're halfway to hell." 'Interception', says the mission title on the datacom. Ha. I wonder how exactly will we-

"Sir...?" Mira. The hottest pilot you can find here. For me, at least. "Are we gonna use the AM weapon?"

I was thinking something like that too. Honestly. I bet we all did. Nuke missiles don't do any good, what else do we have? The Captain didn't answer right away. He walked around at first. "You are to engage target and hold it off until we can deploy our Dreadnoughts at checkpoint Delta. That... and we don't play the trump card until it's time."

Yep. Diplomatic. Way to go, Captain. He barked the 'let's move!' order then and thus end the lecture. Here we go now, on a sortie to stop an otherwordly bird-thing. I'll try to have a good look on the sunset view at least... and Mira.

   

Another mess made with Blender + GIMP. Featuring [NA-45], but due to the recent revelation that the UV texture is hoRRRRRible, here I replaced it with a simple plain procedural texture... meh.

A sequel to [Crimson Hazard], I have the idea of wrapping it together, including this [past deviation] (notice the similar design and color schemes), into one full story. Yay.
